Matt received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. While an undergraduate, he was trained and became a para-professional counselor serving as a first line of contact with students who were struggling with adapting to college academics, dorm/student life, relationships, or family expectations. The opportunity to help fellow students work through challenges was personally rewarding to Matt.
Matt received a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. At Kellogg, as part of the Executive MBA program, Matt enjoyed the ability to immediately apply what he learned in the classroom to his role as a Vice President of Strategic Planning & Development.
Matt’s career passion for education led him to pursue and earn a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania. His thesis is titled, “How Does a Highly Ranked MBA Program Approach Leadership Development.”
From the thesis abstract: “While leadership theorists have unique perspectives and conceptual frameworks for the subject, there are common threads in their foundational ideas – that leadership is an intangible, dynamic process; that it is refined through personal experience and self-reflection; and that it can permeate all levels of an organization.”
